I can handle some of the Mama's breakfast.
And the TENNESSEE TATERS at Chop House are yummy,, cinnamon/butter,, I can taste them now.
Braedens BBQ rocks. I have taken my family over there just about every snow day for lunch. Some of the best BBQ and burgers I've ever had. Plus they have homemade potato chips that are quite good.

When you become senile, you won't know it.
Just out of curiosity, any thoughts about Shoney's excluding breakfast? Not a huge buffet ,like a Golden Corral, but there are meats, hot veggies, soups, and a salad bar. Can also order off the menu too.
We ate there one time about 2 years ago and that'll be the last time. It was terrible. It might have been a one time thing, but I can't make myself go back.
Probably my favorite in Kingsport. Very good as well. I've never had anything bad there.

Mamas House used to be decent back when it was at what is now HMG Urgent Care. Hard to believe how much that area has changed in the last 10 years.
Chop House is very good. Never had a bad meal.
I haven't ate at Shoney's for a supper in a long time. Decent as best I remember, but not special. No worse than Golden Corral.
My general food locations in K'town is La Carreta, Chili's, Olive Garden (I don't like it, but the wife loves it), Cheddars and Texas Roadhouse.
I have to praise Texas Roadhouse. I do like a few things on their menu, especially for the money like the roasted chicken. Back last summer, the wife and I went out while the kids were spending the night and chose to eat there since they weren't lined out the door. We ordered an app, she got a salad and I got the roasted half chicken. After about 20 minutes the manager came over and apologized for the delay on the app. We had been talking and hadn't really thought anything of it. 5 minutes later, she brought it and told us it was on the house due to the wait.
About 5 more minutes later, she comes back and asked who had the chicken. She apologized and said that they were out of the night, and was just notified by the cooks. She said to get whatever I wanted on the house. I asked for the small prime rib then. She chatted with us for a bit while the meal was brought. Before we were finished, she came back and thanked us for being understanding about the mistakes in the kitchen, which had been a first for us there in many trips. She then gave us a free dinner for 2 pass for our next trip back to TR, and that entire meal for free also. Which was very nice.
Now, I wouldn't continue going to the place if the kitchen routinely screwed up, but with that quality customer service, and generally good food, they will continue to get a lot of my business.

There's where you screwed up.
We went to Cheddar's about a year ago and we ordered an appetizer and our food. 45 minutes later the manager came over and said they forgot to put our order in the system and that our appetizer would be free. About an 1.25 hour they brought our food. We did get that $5 appetizer free though.![]()

I've always hated when people get mad and say the service is terrible and to never eat there again after just one screw up they've experienced. I wouldn't say that my first time being there if it were bad because it's not fair to rate it as a terrible business after just your first time or just one screw up. Granted if the service sucked the first time I went there it'd be hard to persuade me to go back but I would because that's just one screw up.
I'm with you. If the poor service were consistent, then I would never go back.
Another thing I've always hated is when people get their panties in a bunch because someone put the pickles on the wrong side of the hamburger. I was eating at Little Mexico with a friend a few years back who said he wasn't leaving a tip because the waitress had to make another trip to get his food or drink or something and because they weren't speaking English even though they were speaking to other workers, who were indeed Mexican.
Five Guys is great. Their burgers remind me of a mixture of Wendy's and Dairy Queen, only they're fresher and better made all around. They have plenty neat toppings, too, including jalapenos and steak sauce. I also think it's cool how they just dump a bunch of their fries into a big ol' paper bag rather than in a carton or on a plate. Shoot, they shovel in enough fries to feed three families! Sometimes if we have enough left over, we'll take them home and make cheddar-and-bacon fries out of them the next day.
:2thumbsup:
Was called King's Table there before, wasn't it? Food was great over there. Have ate at both places and I don't see much difference from when I ate there recently. Best part was the catfish fillets.
Golden Corral has great food, but seems like they try to rush you out of there.
